embodied yoga

Embodied Yoga is a continuum of movement and expression drawing from the discoveries of hatha, tantric and somatic movement systems to experience yoga as a living art form. This practice aims to empower practitioners to light up their entire body-mind with their awareness to remember and experience the unified field.

forrest yoga

Forrest Yoga is founded on Four Pillars of Forrest Yoga: Breath, to connect in feeling with one’s body and ignite passion for living; Strength through intense core sequences and long holds of poses that generate heat and heighten the senses; Integrity in working with the edges of one’s practice, particularly around physical and emotional injuries, developing tools to deal with fear and struggle; Spirit to create a sense of freedom and “courage to walk as your Spirit dictates."

Classes include highly creative sequencing and generally take on a sort of theme, often building toward a variety of peak poses. This means no two teachers or classes are ever alike and every week as a teacher and a student there is an opportunity to try something new.

Forrest yoga includes pranayama, meditation, chakras, sun salutations, standing and balancing poses, arm balances and inversions, twists and backbends and forward folds, and vinyasa. It also relies on a variety of props, wall postures, as well as partner poses and hands on assisting.

Healing meditation, ART & JOURNALLING

We'll be using journalling, art & meditation as modalities of shadow work to tap into our inner selves and understand ourselves better.

We will bring awareness to your darkest shadows and meeting all of the fear, shame, and trauma you’ve repressed over the years. This can be daunting because you are forced to face your pain instead of running from it or pretending it doesn’t exist. It can be deeply uncomfortable and unnerving. But this is how we make peace with our whole self. This is how we liberate ourselves from what binds us and begin to heal. And this is how we develop and grow.

By confronting all your fears, shame, and trauma, those experiences and memories will no longer hold any power over you. You will begin to heal and free and liberate yourself from whatever is weighing you down. Plus, the act of embracing every part of yourself encourages self-love and compassion for your whole self—both the light and the dark. With this increased self awareness and self love, you will also experience enhanced creativity, better relationships, better health, and general improvement in all aspects of your life.

Besides lengthening, softening and toughening the muscles, the postures also stretch the joints (tendon and ligaments), vertebrae, including the organs. This is to give total flexibility to all parts of the human body. The postures are designed to make the muscles from stiff/soft to tone yet elastic, also to open the joints to allow greater degree of freedom in terms of rotation, last but not least giving exercises to the internal organs to improve their functionality and flow. There are over 500 muscles and 206 bones, so much stretching to do and stretch classes are sure to exceed your imagination. This class is good for beginners, intermediate or advanced practitioners, and is a good preparation and maintenance class for any other classes.

Taijiquan exercises emphasize energy circulation, breathing and balance, along with mindfulness and concentration. You can practice these exercises while standing, seated or even while lying down.
